5 Top Tips for saving money on your wedding
1) Create A Budget And Stick To It
The most important tip is to create a budget plan before you purchase anything, and stick to it. Work out what are your must haves and where you can afford to spend a bit less. There will be temptation to overspend but if you follow your budget you shouldn’t have any problems. Download the Wedding Bees budget planner to help
2) Join Your Vendors' Mailing And Social Media Lists
Sign up for all your potential vendors' email lists and follow them on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. You'll hear about clearance sales, competitions and freebies that you wouldn't have known about otherwise. Follow Wedding Bees on Facebook.
3) Do What YOU Want, Not What People Expect
Don't feel like you need to spend money on things you don't really need but feel like you have to have. Skip wedding traditions that seem necessary, like programmes and favours. You can also ask your guests to contribute to your honeymoon or if you are catering the wedding breakfast yourself why not ask them to bring a dish?
4) Call in favours
You may not like the idea of it but why not. You probably know plenty of people with a multitude of skills and it’s your big day. Call in favours, ask for help, friends and relatives can help you with décor, food, or anything else within a reasonable budget or free. Don’t feel embarrassed and ask for help where you can get it. You’ll be surprised who offers and what skills are out there.
5) Limit the guest list
No-one likes to tell people they aren't invited to their wedding, but for everyone you don't invite you are saving money on catering, gifts, invitations, travel and drinks. It might be the last option but possibly could be the best way to save a lot of money. You might even have a better day with a smaller more intimate wedding!
